The Banko Project is named in the legacy of Banko Brown, a colleague and friend who was killed for survival crimes in April of 2023. Banko, a Black trans man, brought beauty, humor, and heart to the world all the while navigating violence, houselessness, poverty, and incarceration. His experiences are emblematic of transmasculine people nationwide.
